This mixed media piece represents my daily 'morning ritual'. The painting consists of a cup of black coffee while updating myself on events and news. The artwork employs a layered approach to convey a sense of realism. Specifically, I completed the crosswords and exercises on the newspaper page in coloured pen. I then glued the newspaper onto canvas. Afterwards I spilt coffee onto the paper, representing that not every day starts off smoothly or is perfect, as well as to add more visual interest to the background. I then painted my coffee mug from an aerial view on the canvas, creating an intimate and realistic perspective for viewers. This piece is a reflection of imperfect beauty embedded in routine, reflecting how beauty can be found in genuine, unfiltered, and imperfect moments.
